Youngsters get social cause punishment for harassing women


Hyderabad: Two youngsters, who were nabbed by the Hyderabad She Teams on charges of harassing women in Indira Park here, were on Wednesday sentenced by a court to two days of social cause punishment apart from paying a fine. The social cause they have to take up was not yet announced.

According to the police, as part of regular duty, She Teams had gone to Indira Park and found the two youngsters passing lewd comments on a woman, a worker in the park. They were caught on the spot along with video evidence. The woman revealed that they had been doing the same for quite some time, but she chose to silently continue her work, ignoring them.

The youngsters were identified as Nadeem Jani and Mohammed Azharuddin, both in their mid-twenties and residents of Bholakpur in Musheerabad. They were first counselled and a petty case booked against them under relevant sections of the City Police Act. They were later produced before court which convicted them and also awarded them two days of social cause punishment.

In another case, a few students of Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences College of Physiotherapy staying in a hostel approached the She Teams complaining of a person following them in morning hours every day for the last fortnight.

The She Team caught the man, identified as Amit, 36 from Ramgopalpet area the same day. A case was booked and he was produced before court.
