Yasangi to see 1 lakh acre ayacut in Narsampet

Warangal Rural: The irrigation authorities are going to install the two motors in the Ramappa-Pakhal pumphouse in 15 days and begin the trials at the earliest, thanks to Narsampet MLA Peddi Sudharshan Reddy’s efforts.

The linking of the Ramappa-Pakhal lakes would not only stabilise the existing ayacut but also ensure water for the second crop (Yasangi) under the Pakhal lake in the Narsampet constituency. Speaking to ‘Telangana Today’, Sudhashan Reddy, who requested Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and got sanctioned both the projects — linking of Ramappa-Pakhal and Ramappa-Rangaya cheruvu link project — said he, along with irrigation officials, had recently inspected the works at the Ramappa lake and asked them to complete the works at the earliest. “With the completion of the both projects, nearly 70,000 acres of the land will get the irrigation facility for two crops. The construction and installation of the motors for the Ramappa-Rangaya project were already completed during the last summer and the trail run too was completed,” the MLA said.

According to irrigation officials, the Ramappa-Pakhal linking project had been taken up as a part of the J Chokka Rao Devadula Lift Irrigation scheme to lift three tmc in 120 days from the Ramappa lake to the Pakhal lake in the Narsampet constituency to irrigate 30,000 acres (Stabilisation of 15,000 acres Pakhal ayacut, 7,000 acres of gap ayacut in the Narsampet constituency and 8,000 acres of ayacut in the Mulugu constituency). However, Sudharshan Reddy said the actual ayacut under Pakhal was more than what was on the irrigation records.

Meanwhile, Rangaya Cheruvu, located at Govindapur in Nallabelli mandal in the district, will irrigate 25,700 acres under the right main canal and 10,500 acres under the left as it was linked to the Ramappa lake, located at Palampet in Venkapur mandal in the neighbouring Mulugu district. With the completion of these two projects and filling of a total 230 tanks with the SRSP water, the officials expect 1,03,200 acres will go under cultivation for the coming Yasangi.
