When Vijayshanti also known by the moniker Lady Amitabh left films for a career in politics, many thought this would be ‘it’ for her film career. But, as new of her coming onboard Mahesh Babu’s film Sarileru Neekevvaru spread, everyone in the Tamil and Telugu film industry welcomed her comeback. Her stunning portrayals on-screen are still fresh in people’s minds.
Even though many tried to bring her back with scripts crafted with her in mind, no story impressed her. Finally, Anil Ravipudi got her nod for a major role in his latest directorial venture.
It was no easy feat as the director had to spend several hours persuading the actor to accept the role. According to sources, if Vijayashanthi hadn’t agreed, the director was ready to change the script entirely.
Having watched the final output of Sarileru Neekevvaru, Anil Sunkara says that Lady Amitabh deserves a National award for portrayal. “I cannot imagine another actor in a role of this kind other than her. She added a lot of depth to the role and the film as a whole,” says Anil.
The entire unit spoke highly about her high-voltage performance as in few of the sequences she did not even ask for glycerine when it came to sheding tears. Her act won her a huge round of applause and whistles on the sets.
The director, music director DSP, editor, DOP and everyone on set praised her for the brilliant portrayal of so called Bharathi, a lecturer by profession in the story. Rajendra Prasad who is also cast in the film for another pivotal role said that Vijayashanti proved her mettle once again.
Interestingly, the combination of Vijayshanti and Prince was last seen in Koduku Diddina Kapuram in 1989 and just like the last time, the chemistry between the two actors was well-balanced, according to sources.
