Vellore Institute of Technology engineering entrance exam cancelled


Hyderabad: In view of the prevailing conditions due to coronavirus, Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) has cancelled VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) for admission to various engineering programmes offered by VIT Group of Institutions at Vellore, Chennai, Amravati (Andhra Pradesh) and Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh).

In a statement issued here, VIT said conducting the entrance exam in various cities had become risky given the rise in coronavirus infections. “To keep the student and parent community safe, VITEEE-2020 stands cancelled. The admission will be based on +2 / Pre-University marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/ Biology,” it said. Students who scored in JEE (Main) would be given weightage.

The forms for providing the marks and JEE (Main) scores have made available on the website “”.

Applicants were requested to update their VITEEE applications at the earliest and in case the results of the Board Examination were not declared, they could upload the marks as soon as the results were available.
