Mancherial: Government Whip and Chennur MLA Balka Suman on Tuesday said the State government was implementing Palle Pragathi programme to help rural civic bodies achieve financial empowerment and growth on their own.

Addressing the general body meeting of Mandamarri mandal parishad council in Mandamarri, Suman said the government was giving paramount importance to development of rural areas and had amended the Panchayat Raj Act and introduced different schemes. “The government is implementing Palle Pragathi, a first of its kind initiative aimed at transformation of villages, that will help rural civic bodies to witness unprecedented development and achieve economic self-sufficiency,” he said.

The government whip suggested that the public representatives identify and address major problems faced in villages using the Palle Pragathi programme. He urged them to take steps to ensure cleanliness of the surroundings in rural areas and bring about awareness about this among people. The spread of Covid-19 pandemic can be curtailed by maintaining hygiene, he added.

The legislator later inspected works of homes granted to Mandamarri under the 2BHK scheme. He instructed the executing agency and officials concerned to expedite the works and to hand over the houses to the eligible beneficiaries at the earliest. He said that the government was implementing the scheme to see that the homeless poor lead a happy life and with self-respect.

Suman also inaugurated a dumpyard at Pulimadugu village in Mandamarri mandal. He urged the public to segregate dry and wet waste before throwing it in the bin. He said that rural civic bodies were given tractors for shifting the trash. He earlier inspected works of a national-highway at Bheemaram mandal and office of Mandal Revenue Officer.

Zilla Parishad Chairperson Nalla Bhagyalaxmi, District Libraries Corporation Chairman Renikuntla Praveen, Mandamarri ZPTC member Velpula Ravi and Mandal Parishad President Manga and several MPTC members were present.
