Underground drainage system will be completed in 15 months: Harish Rao

Siddipet:  With the objective of making the rapidly growing Gajwel a model town, the State government has decided to build an Underground Drainage System (UGD) in the town at a cost of over Rs 100 crore in the first phase. An additional Rs 47 will be spent on the second phase of UGD.

Addressing a gathering after laying a foundation for the UGD at Rajeev Park in Gajwel on Sunday, Finance Minister T Harish Rao instructed the officials and contractors to complete the first phase of works in Gajwel, Pragnapur, Mutrajpally and Kyasaram villages within 15 months. He said works on the second phase of the works will begin shortly.

Stating that Gajwel was witnessing rapid development following the efforts of Chief Minister  K Chandrashekar Rao, the Minister said Tank bund and outer ring road for Gajwel town will be completed soon.

He has further informed that Railway safety authorities will soon visit to check the new railway line being laid connecting Gajwel with Secunderabad. Stating that the Gajwel was having Integrated Office Complex, Integrated Market, Mahathi Auditorium, Parks, separate education hubs for men and women, and Government Hospital, Rao said that Sangapur village, which was merged in Gawel-Pragnaur Municipality, was developed on par with Singapore since the village had got multiple development works. Rao has said that they were taking up the UGD works considering the next 100 years’ needs.

He has said that the construction of the UGD will protect the people from mosquitos, flies and other menaces besides controlling the spread of the diseases. Apart from the UGD, Rao has said that the Municipality will have four Sewage Treatment Plants at four different locations.  They will have a treatment capacity of 3.5MLD, 1.5MLD, 1.25MLD and 0.25MLD each respectively. The Minister has assured the citizens to build new roads once the construction of UGD is completed. Later, he paid tributes to Mokshagundam Visveshwaraiah.
