Mancherial: Two teenagers were on Tuesday arrested for allegedly robbing a gold chain and two mobile phones from a passenger of an auto-rickshaw on January 25. Gold chain weighing 3 tolas, silver chain and mobile phones, knife and auto-rickshaw were recovered from their possession.
Mancherial ACP Gouse Baba and Rural Inspector Y Krishna Kumar said one accused was an auto-rickshaw driver from Tilakangar in Mancherial while the other was a daily wager from Vempalli village in Hajipur mandal. They were apprehended when they were trying to sell the booty in Godavarikhani.
The complainant was Jujuri Ashok, a resident of Rajampet village in Dandepalli mandal.
The duo confessed to have robbed Ashok by threatening to kill him after taking him to a secluded place on the outskirts of Mancherial on January 25 night. They said they had committed the offence to lead a lavish life and added that they were planning to sell the gold chain to a merchant in Godavarikhani.
Baba commended the police officials for chasing the robbery case. Task Force Inspector N Sagar, Sub-Inspectors Sammaiah and Pramod, Constables Sampath and Bhaskar took part in the operation.
