Covid-19 Karimnagar

Karimnagar: Two more Covid-19 positive cases were reported from erstwhile Karimnagar district on Thursday. While one case was reported in Karimnagar town, another case was recorded in Jagitial.

Karimnagar district officials, who heaved a sigh of relief with no fresh corona positive case reported in the last 10 days, were taken aback by the fresh case. The surprising thing is that the person, a Markaz returnee, tested positive for the virus on Wednesday, 29 days after his return and after testing negative twice. He has since been shifted to Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad and efforts are on to trace his secondary contacts. The area near the government hospital has also been closed.

With the fresh case, the number of positive cases in the district has risen to 19. Karimnagar has been declared as red zone (large outbreak) in the list announced by the Central government.

Meanwhile, a five-year-old boy tested positive for the virus in Jagitial. The deaf and mute boy had visited Guntur in Andhra Pradesh to undergo treatment for some health problem and returned to his native village in Jagitial mandal a few days ago.

After receiving information from villagers, medical teams collected samples of the boy and sent for medical examination. He tested positive for the virus on Wednesday night. Officials shifted him to Gandhi Hospital.

Earlier, two corona positive cases were reported in Korutla.
