TS lockdown: Muslim body asks community to avoid large gatherings

Hyderabad: The Shariah Council of Jamaat-e-Islami appealed Muslims in areas under lock down to take all measures recommended by health authorities and experts to prevent spread of COVID-19.

The mosque committees were asked to stop large gatherings in mosques and advised that only the Imam (one who leads prayers), muezzin (who gives the call for prayers) and administrators of the mosque should offer the prayers five times a day.

“The general public can offer the prayers at their houses. Similarly, on Fridays also the same practice should be followed,” it said.

The council asked the management committees to clean up the mosque regularly and use disinfectants. It also advised the community to come forward and help the needy and those who are without work during the lock down by providing food or financial assistance.
