Three students given corporal punishment in Adilabad


Adilabad: A private school teacher reportedly made three students sit on knees, leaning against the wall, for speaking to their classmates, here on Saturday. One of the students suffered from fever following the punishment, on Sunday. The incident came to light on Tuesday.

Sources said that the teacher of a private school, located in Vinayak Chowk, punished a girl student who is studying Class III for talking to her classmates. The pupil was diagnosed with a severe fever. She was admitted to a hospital of the town. Doctors told her parents that she was unwell because she was forced to sit against the wall for a quite long time.

The shocked parents questioned the teacher on Monday. However, it is learned that the teacher tendered an apology for imposing the punishment to the student by visiting her residence. She had also thrashed a student for failing to complete homework a week ago. But it was not communicated to his parents.

Meanwhile, a section parents expressed concern over corporal punishments being given to their children in the school. They demanded officials of the Education Department to take action against the management for indulging in barbaric acts even in the age of digital era. They sought the authorities to take steps to avoid recurrence of similar incidents in future.
