Tenali Ramakrishna will be witty and humorous

Tenali Ramakrishna

Sundeep Kishan and Hansika Motwani upcoming starrer Tenali Ramakrishna BA BL which is due for release this month, is going to be fun-filled entertainer with elements of comedy, wit and humour. In a brief chat with media, Director G Nageshwara Reddy shared more insights about the small story developed into a proper form.

“Now there is a dearth of full-length comedy movies at the box office. Family entertainment flicks have come down considerably. My expertise is in narrating comedy tracks and I was bumped into such script which I had conceptualised it into full-length comedy tale. There was a time when senior actors like Naresh and Rajendra Prasad had made some iconic comic films in the past. Now the trend has been changed. In the place of cinema, laughing clubs have popped up and plight has become even worse. I hope the Tenali Ramakrishna BA BL will surely impress audiences the new-age audiences,” he adds.

Quirky as its titled Tenali Ramakrishna, Sundeep too has all the characteristics of Tenali, who was a poet during the times of Sri Krishna Devaraya. Tenali Ramakrishna was known for his wit and humour. The history says that he was the one who saved Kings Sri Krishna Devaraya from a great trouble. Hero Sundeep is a budding lawyer who tries to convince his clientele to make out-of-court settlement rather languishing before judiciary for years to hear verdict. He is a man of wit and humour, yet times he also becomes serious when situation demands. And there will be an unexpected day where he had to deal with a peculiar case. “The first half establishes how the hero as a lawyer deals with cases. His motto is to compromise both the aggrieved parties and simplify issues themselves without going to judiciary,” director says.

After Eedo Rakam Vado Rakam, Intlo Deyyam Nakenti Bayyam, Tenali Ramakrishna is the third film of music director Sai Karthik. “I initially wanted content-oriented song for the title and the single Ramakrishna Tenali … Naa Maate Vinali is perfect fit. The story has no political undertone but it is a family backdrop. And crime is on corruption. Hansika will be playing the character of a funny lawyer who boasts herself as a legal intellect. But she is innocent when it comes to deal with a major issue. Tamil actor Varalakshmi is playing an important role for the first time. For an actor who has such a massive on-screen image, I was initially feared if I don’t utilise her craft well. Any small mistake would bomerang the whole film project. After several meetings, we had decided to take her on board,” he says.
