Ten arrested for cow slaughter in Warangal

Warangal Urban: Hasanparthy police have arrested ten persons on charges of slaughtering the cows and oxen and selling beef here on Monday. They have also recovered the knives and axes used in butchering the cattle, two trucks and two motorcycles from the accused.

The arrested have been identified as Shaik Chinnalal alias Akbar, Shaik Kareem, Shaik Pedda Rasool, Shaik Bhasha, Shaik Goremiya, Sayyad Bade Saab of Arvapally village of Hasanparthy mandal in Warangal Urban district, and Bhadraiah and Uppu Rajender of Mulugu district and Sayyad Muslehuddin and MD Sayyad of Warangal city.

Disclosing the details at a press conference here on Monday, Kazipet Incharge ACP Jithender Reddy said that Shaik Chinnalal and Shaik Kareem, the main accused, had planned to earn money by selling the beef by killing the cows and oxen on the occasion of the Eid-Al-Udha (Bakrid).

“As a part of this, they purchased six cows and six oxen from the cattle market at Jangalapally in Mulugu district with the help Bhadraiah of Incherla of Mulugu district on July 15, and shifted secretly to Arvapally village,” he added. It is said that they had butchered the cattle at a secret place at the village and were shifting the meat to several localities in Warangal, Hanamkonda and Kazipet.

“On receiving specific information about selling the beef, police have raided the place where they had butchered the cattle and took them into custody. They have confessed to the crime,” the ACP said.   The police have booked a case under ‘The Telangana Prohibition of Cow Slaughter and Animal Preservation Act- 1977’.

Meanwhile, incharge CP Promod Kumar has appreciated Hasanparthy incharge Inspector Srinivasji, SI Pavan Kumar and staff for arresting the accused.
