Hyderabad: Telangana schools team’s fine run in the School India Cup National Football Championship came to an tame end after suffering a 5-1 loss against Punjab at Sharda University, Noida on Tuesday.
Punjab was leading the first half 2-0 and scored three goals in the last seven minutes of the match in a one-sided contest. Paredeep scored the lone goal for Telangana in the second half.
In the second semifinal, Haryana defeated West Bengal by 2-1 to enter the final. Telangana will now face West Bengal in the third place match on Wednesday while the final between Haryana and Punjab will also take place on Wednesday.
Results: Semifinals: Punjab bt Telangana 5-1; Haryana bt West Bengal 2-1.
