Nalgonda: Health Minister Eatala Rajender on Tuesday asserted that the people of the State need not panic over the increasing Covid-19 cases since hospitals and medical wings are ready to face any situation.

The Minister was speaking after inaugurating a 50-bed Mother and Child Hospital in the Government General Hospital at Suryapet, along with Power Minister G Jagdish Reddy. He also inspected several wards in the hospital and inquired with the doctors about the health services being extended to the people. Later, he held a review meeting with officials of Nalgonda, Yadadri-Bhongir and Suryapet districts.

Rajender said the State government was ready to tackle any situation arising out of the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic. “People should not panic but must follow Covid norms of social distancing, wearing masks and hand sanitisation. People should not panic since remaining positive is the first line of medicine against the virus,” he said.

He said the State government has provided additional beds, oxygen facility and ventilator facility and medicines in all government hospitals spending thousands of crores of rupees. Rapid kits, which give results in minutes, have been supplied to all government hospitals including Primary Health Centres (PHCs). Special kits, which consisted of medicines, would be extended to those who test positive, the Minister said.

Stating that Hyderabad’s high floating population figures was one of the reasons for the large number of positive cases, the Minister said the hospitals, however, have been extending treatment to Covid-19 patients from other states too. About 99.5 percent of Corona positive patients were recovering and safety returning home after getting discharged from hospitals, he said.

Stating that initiatives of the State government in the health sector was aimed at achieving ‘Healthy Telangana,” he said that Telangana was at the top in mother and child care in the country. He pointed out that Telangana has become a health and pharmacy hub in the country.

Asking the people to adopt self restrictions in view of second wave of COVID-19, Jagdish Reddy said that the state government was also made all required arrangements and medical facilities to tackle the situation of second wave of COVID-19. Medical College, which HAS come up at Suryapet, brought super specialty health care services to the people of the district.

Rajya Sabha member Badugula Lingaiah Yadav, Commissioner of Health Chithra Ramachandran and Thungathurthy MLA Gadari Kishore also attended the review meeting.
