Karimnagar: Finance and Civil Supplies Minister, Etela Rajender informed that Telangana has become the richest State in the country with a 20 percent economic growth rate. Though it was a new State, the growth rate of the Telangana was on fast track due to various measures taken by the government.
Etela hoisted the tricolor as part of Telangana formation day celebrations held at police parade grounds here on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the wealth being generated in the State has equally been distributed among all sections of the society by following equality and social justice norms.
Considering that growth of the State was possible only with strengthening rural economy especially agriculture sector, the State government has introduced a number of schemes for the development of the farms sector and welfare of the farmers, he added.
As part of its plans, 46,000 tanks have been restored in three phases and various irrigation projects were taken up after redesigning them, to boost the rural economy. Besides 24 hours power supply, government recently launched the first in the country scheme Rythu Bandhu. Rs 12,000 crore has been allocated to provide financial assistance to 58 lakh farmers. Seven districts of Telangana would be drought free in the future once the ongoing Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project was completed.
Stating that Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla barrages were completed in record time of three years, Rajender has assured to fill Mid Manair reservoir with Kaleshwaram water in this year. Erstwhile Karimnagar district, which was considered as seed bowl of the State, would be made as seed bowl of the country in the coming days. The district is going to become a model state in the entire Telangana. The Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who has special affection for Karimnagar, has launched all schemes from here.
District would become a famous tourist destination once the proposed Manair River Front Development project was completed. A modern restaurant will also be constructed with Rs 15 crore, he added.
