Hyderabad: In a major development, Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has transferred the Health and Family Welfare portfolio from Eatala Rajender to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao with immediate effect. Rajender will continue in the State Cabinet as the Minister without a portfolio. The decision was taken on the advice of the Chief Minister, a press release from the Raj Bhavan said.
Eatala Rajender, who represents Huzurabad constituency, is in thick of a controversy following allegations that he had forced farmers to transfer assigned lands so that he could start a hatchery. The Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao ordered a probe into the allegations against Rajender over encroachment of assigned lands belonging to poor farmers of Achampally and Hakimpet of Masaipet mandal.
The farmers lodged a complaint against the Minister with Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao over encroachment of nearly 100 acres assigned lands in Masaipet mandal for setting up his poultry farms. The Chief Minister had ordered for two simultaneous investigations by Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar and Vigilance DGP Poornachander Rao into the allegations. He had sought a preliminary report which was reportedly submitted to him on Saturday, based on which the portfolio of Rajender was stripped off.
