Hyderabad: Telangana government on Thursday felicitated Indian Women Cricket team captain Mithali Raj and presented her a cheque for Rs 1 crore. She was also gifted a residential plot of 600 square yards by the State government as announced by the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao earlier for her outstanding contribution to women cricket.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Sports and Youth Services T Padma Rao said the State government was giving utmost importance for sports and encouraging budding sport personalities. “Mithali Raj is a pearl of Telangana and we wish more successes in her career,” Padma Rao said. He also hailed the contribution of Mithali Raj’s parents for her success. After receiving the State honour Mithali Raj said Telangana State was encouraging sports in a broadway under the able leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. Minister also handed over a cheque of Rs 25 lakhs to Mithali coach Murthi.
Sports secretary, Burra Venkatesham, Sports Authority Chairman, S Venkateshwar Reddy and other officials participated in felicitation ceremony.
