Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge sought a discussion on the matter.
The Congress has written to Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu for appointing Kharge to the post of leader of opposition after Ghulam Nabi Azad's retirement.
He said that entire opposition and Congress party in particular is opposing the legislations.
Speaking to ANI, Kharge, thanked Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi and party MP Rahul Gandhi. He said, "I thank Sonia Gandhi ji and Rahul Gandhi ji as they have given me an opportunity to serve at Rajya Sabha for the first time."
This election was not about who won the election but was about defeating the BJP's move to divide the community, says senior Congress leader.
"We have finished our discussions at the meeting today. We resolved many issues and Shiv Sena leadership was in touch with us through the phone."
"Today there is a meeting at 10:00 am then we will do whatever the high command will suggest. Our original stand is that we will sit in the opposition as people gave us mandate to sit in the opposition and we will do the same."
