It said if the pending revision petition filed by the police against the foreigners was allowed by the court, then they would have to come back to India to join the proceedings.
The Home Ministry also said the visa granted to those foreigners, except diplomats and UN officials, who are supposed to come to India, will remain suspended till May 3.

The Assam government has already ruled out detention of people who do not figure in the list "in any circumstances" till the time Foreigners' Tribunals declare them foreigners.
The change will affect tens of thousands of people from visa waiver countries who have gone to the North as tourists or for other purposes in recent years.
The Ministry had in May issued an order mandating the Foreigners' Tribunals in Assam to deliver verdict of any case related to those people whose names could be excluded from the final list of NRC within four months, said the source.
