The militants opened fire on security forces when they were conducting a search and cordon operation on Wednesday in Kandipora.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Shalgul forests in Srigufwara area of the district following information about the presence of militants.
"Medium danger avalanche warning has been issued for higher reaches of Kishtwar, Kupwara and Bandipora districts," an official of the disaster management department said.
"A joint operation was launched today early morning in Anantnag based on Jammu and Kashmir Police inputs."
On June 26, CRPF jawan Shymal Kumar Dey and a child had lost their lives in a terrorists attack on a CRPF party in Anantnag.

The militants fired upon and critically injured the policeman, Manzoor Ahmad, at his home in Hiller area of Shahabad in the south Kashmir district, a police official said.
A joint team of Army's 19 RR and SOG had cordoned off the area after learning of the presence of militants in the area.
"The encounter took place at night in the Sangam area of Bijbehara in south Kashmir."
The new map surprisingly includes three districts -- Muzaffarabad, Punch and Mirpur -- which are under Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK).
