Hyderabad: The patronage for Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) has been rising steadily over the past few weeks. On an average, nearly 80,000 passengers are travelling in Metro services every day.
On August 16, however, the number of passengers who chose Metro to travel rose sharply to one lakh. According to HMRL Managing Director NVS Reddy, the sudden spike in numbers was largely due to the traffic jams at Erragadda, caused to due to repair works. On August 4, nearly 91,000 passengers had travelled but this season’s highest patronage of nearly 1.50 lakh was recorded on August 7.
