Hyderabad: St Ann’s Junior College edged past a fighting NASR School 23-22 in an exciting encounter in the Basketball Federation of India’s Indian School Basketball league, conducted by Telangana Basketball Association, at Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet.

Junior National player Srivani was the toast of St Ann’s win as she rattled the defence of NASR School to brace up an individual tally of 16 points in her team’s tally of 23. But Nista Reddy and Thasya kept NASR in the hunt with regular baskets. The teams were locked 11-11 at half time.

On resumption, NASR tightened their defence on Srivani. As a result, NASR broke free and led 22-21 before Khushi Thapa struck from an offensive rebound to seal the match in St Ann’ favour.
In another match, Don Bosco rallied to defeat St Joseph’s School Habsiguda 33-30 after trailing 13-16 at half time. Don Bosco relied heavily on Sarah Issac for scoring as she notched up seven out of nine points in the first quarter to take a slender 9-8 lead over St Joseph’s.

However, employing close marking, St. Joseph’s took a 16-13 lead at half-time with Ragamayee scoring through fast breaks. St Joseph’s continued to play with good pace as Yeshashwini and Vaishnavi scored two baskets apiece to take a comfortable 27-18 lead at end of the third quarter.

Don Bosco turned the tables from fourth quarter as change of tactics saw them upset St Joseph’s plans. Switching to full court defence, they cut out the scoring of the loser and also picked up their scoring mainly through Sarah, who scored 12 points in the fourth quarter to finally win the match 33-30.
