Rajanna-Sircilla: Sircilla police on Thursday arrested two persons for manufacturing fake face masks along with the logo of a branded company by violating trademark and patent norms.
According to police, a resident of Geetanagar of Sircilla town, Eega Balaram owns a cloth store in CESS road of the town. As there was a huge demand for Ramraj Cotton Company’s face masks in the market, he has decided to make money by printing the logo of the company on ordinary masks.
Then he approached his friend and owner of Umashankar printing press wherein the logo of Ramraj cotton was designed in the computer and printed on screen printer. Then the logo was printed on ordinary masks manufactured by Balaram.
Each mask has been sold in between Rs 20 to Rs 50. Apart from Sircilla town, Balaram sold masks in Hyderabad, Khammam and other parts of the State during the last three months.
After knowing that their masks have been sold at a cheaper price in the market, representatives of Ramraj cotton lodged a complaint with Sircilla police.
Based on the complaint, police registered the case and began investigation and arrested Balaram and Umashakar. Cops conducted raids on the houses of duo and seized Rs 5 lakh worth fake Ramraj cotton masks, printing material and computer.
