Suryapet: Suryapet Superintendent of Police R Venkateshwarlu underlined the need to install CCTV cameras in villages under ‘Nenu Saitham’ programme that would help uphold law and order.
The police conducted an awareness programme in the politically-sensitive Gummadavelli village of Maddirala mandal in the district under “Police Mee Mithrulu” (Police are your friends), an initiative to develop a good relation with the public.
Speaking at the programme, the SP said the people should get rid of short temper, which would land in them in trouble. He also suggested them respect the women in their family and society. Reminding that the installation of CCTVs was taken up in the rural areas under ‘Nenu Saitham’, he felt that the cooperation of the locals was required for it.
Pointing out that India was the largest democracy in the world, Venkateshwarlu asked the people to exercise their franchise in panchayat elections. He also exhorted the people not to give any scope for any untoward incidents during the elections.
Urging the people to be united irrespective of caste, religion and politics to develop Gummadavelli as a model village, he said: “We should present our village as a model village to our next generations.”
