Hyderabad: The Mirchowk police on Monday arrested a man who allegedly committed a theft of 20 tolas of gold from his employer’s house last month.
According to the South Zone police, the man, Jaweed Hyder, worked at a house in Purani Haveli under the Mirchowk police station limits. On April 11, when the family members had gone to participate in the birthday celebrations of Imam Hazarath Ali, Hyder was left alone in the house to look after an elderly member of the family. He allegedly stole the gold then.
The house owner, who found the gold missing on returning, grew suspicious of Hyder and questioned him. He however denied any knowledge of the gold and the very next day, left for Uttar Pradesh.
Based on a complaint, police had booked a theft case and were investigating, when Hyder returned to the city on Sunday, apparently after not being able to sell the gold ornaments in Uttar Pradesh. He was nabbed soon after he reached the city. The gold was recovered from his possession, after which he was produced before court and remanded in judicial custody.
