Hyderabad: The TRS rubbished allegations of Congress MP A Revanth Reddy against TRS working president and IT Minister KT Rama Rao stating that the former was only trying to divert public attention from cases filed against him and resorting to false propaganda against the latter.
The party leaders said while Rama Rao’s family did own a piece of land near Janwada, the land that Revanth Reddy alleged was in violation of GO no. 111 had no link with the Minister.
Government Whip Balka Suman told the media at Telangana Bhavan on Monday that contrary to Revanth Reddy’s allegations, Rama Rao did not occupy or purchase any land illegally in Janwada by misusing his position. “In fact, the Minister’s wife Shailima owns a piece of land even prior to 2014. Rama Rao clearly mentioned it in his election affidavit in 2014 and 2018 Assembly elections. About 8 acres and 9 guntas land is registered in the name of his wife which is no crime,” Suman said.
TRS general secretary and MLC M Srinivas Reddy, MLCs Naradasu Laxman, Shambipur Raju, and party secretary Gattu Ramchander Rao were also present at the press conference.
Further, Suman alleged that Revanth Reddy was spreading lies through false propaganda and said the land shown by the Congress leader to the media was about 8 km away from the land owned by Rama Rao’s wife. “There is another allegation that the Minister illegally occupied some land in the vicinity. But Rama Rao took the land on lease to use it as a farmhouse and is paying rent for it. We have documentary evidence for the same. He did not commit any crime like Revanth Reddy and his brother who blatantly occupied the land belonging to some Dalits in Gopanapally,” he said.
“Revanth Reddy is a brand ambassador for blackmailing. Instead of replying to allegations against him, he is resorting to mudslinging against Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar’s family regularly which exposes his cheap mindset,” he said, and demanded that Revanth Reddy accept his mistakes and undergo punishment as per law.
Earlier, addressing a press meet along with former MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, Revanth Reddy alleged that Rama Rao built a mansion in a 25-acre land in Janwada village on the outskirts of the city. He alleged that the building was constructed in violation of rules and the land owner was forced to part with the land. As the MP was addressing a press conference near the property, the police objected to it and took the Congress leaders into custody and shifted them to RC Puram Police station.
