Rains in Telangana bring smile on farmer’s faces

Sangareddy/Medak/Siddipet: Sangareddy and Medak districts recorded moderate to heavy rainfall during the past 24 hours while Siddipet district received showers throughout Tuesday and Wednesday.

The rains during the past couple of days have brought smiles back on the faces of farmers in the erstwhile Medak district since there were no rains during the past fortnight or so.
Crops had started withering during last week and the farmers were eagerly waiting for a shower to revive their hopes of getting good harvest.

Narsapur mandal recorded highest rainfall among all the mandals in these three districts as it recorded 85.4 mm rainfall.

Patancheru mandal in Sangareddy district registered 80 mm rainfall during the same period. As all the 26 mandals recorded rains during the past 24 hours in Sangareddy, the district registered 21.2mm average rainfall while Medak district recorded 19mm rainfall. Siddipet recorded relatively less rain with 6.5mm average rainfall.

Several streams and drains were in full swing in Narsapur mandal as it recorded highest rainfall of the season. Braving the rain, farmers were seen doing paddy transplantation in Narasapur area and several other parts of these three districts.

G Rajaiah, farmer and native of Narsapur, told ‘Telangana Today’ that they were relieved with the rain as they had almost lost hope of getting good yield this year due to dry spell.

Heavy rains lash Nalgonda, Suryapet

Nalgonda/Yadadri-Bhongir: Several mandals in Yadadri-Bhongir and Nalgonda district witnessed moderate to heavy rains on Wednesday.  Motakondur, Mothkur and Athmakur (S) mandals in Yadadri-Bhongir districts witnessed heavy rains on Wednesday. Many of the houses were flooded at Motakondur village due to heavy rain.

In Nalgonda district, heavy rains lashed Nakrekal, Narketpally and Thripurarm mandals.
Munugode and Chivvemla mandals also witnessed heavy rains in Suryapet district.
Drains were overflowing in some areas in Nalgonda Muncipality due to heavy rain.

Nizambad, Kamareddy cheer up

Nizamabad: In last 24 hours good rainfall was recorded at both Kamareddy and Nizamabad districts, 7.2 mm average rainfall was recorded at Kamareddy and 2.4 mm rainfall was recorded in Nizamabad.

In Kamareddy district Pitlam mandal received 2.6 cm rainfall, Nagireddipet received 2.42 cm, Nizamsagar 1.92 cm, and Gandhari 1.12 cm in last 24 hours.

In Nizamabad district Vailpoor received 1.48 cm, Armoor received 0.68 cm rainfall.

Till now, both Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts had deficit rainfall, Nizamabad district had recorded -35.9 mm deficit rainfall and Kamareddy district still has -14.9 mm deficit.

Rajanna, Farmer from Lakkora, said this spell of rainfall in very useful for the paddy, maize, soya and other crops. Due to lack of sufficient rainfall  crops were drying in Nizamabad district.
