Hyderabad: Prominent Telugu producer V Doraswami Raju on Monday passed away following massive heart stroke here in the city. He was rushed to a private hospital in Banjara Hills a few days ago after he complained uneasiness. Since then he had been undergoing treatment.
Several celebrities and industry bigwigs expressed grief through social media platforms over his sudden demise.
Spanning 25 years of film career in Telugu film industry, Doraswami will be remembered for producing some blockbuster hits in Telugu. Starting his career as a film distributor, he went on to produce some superhit films under his home banner Vijaya Maruthi Creations (VMC) .
He launched VMC Creations in 1978 and went on to distribute more than 750 films in Rayalaseema region. He forayed into film production with Krishnam Raju-Akkineni Nagarjuna starrer Kira Dada. Directed by A Kodandaram Reddy, the movie was a blockbuster commercial success at the box office.
Some of his super hit flicks have been President Gari Pellam, and Madhavayya Gari Manavadu were back-to-back box office hits. Biographical movie Annamayya was again a trendsetter breaking box office records when it was released in 1997. Then came NTR starrer Simhadri which saw a runaway success.
