Four persons arrested for stealing batteries in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Four persons were arrested by the Shahinyathganj police for allegedly stealing batteries from vehicle parked at the Goshamahal police stadium.

The accused persons were identified as Shahrukh Khan (25), Shaik Taher (20) Rampura Anji (30) and G Ramesh (27).

According to the Assistant Commissioner of Police, M Narendar Reddy, Shahrukh Khan and Shaik Taher both residents of Afzal Sagar in Mallepally in Hyderabad were committing theft of batteries from the vehicles parked at Goshamahal police grounds for last six months.

“So far they had committed theft of close to 200 batteries kept at the ground. They were caught by a police team while committing theft on Monday night,” said the ACP.

After committing the theft, Shahrukh Khan and Shaik Taher, took the stolen property to Anil and Ramesh, who are battery dealers and sold it to them, the official added.

The accused persons along with the property were produced before the court and remanded.

Meanwhile, the police higher-ups have ordered an inquiry into the thefts. The vehicles seized by traffic police for lack of documents and the law and order police in connection with criminal cases are dumped at the Goshamahal police stadium and ground.
