Pak national jailed in fake passport case in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Metropolitan Magistrate Court here on Tuesday sentenced a Pakistan national to five years of imprisonment in a fake passport case.

In August, 2013, Mohammed Nazeer alias Hakem Mohammed Nazeer Inaqalabi, 41 (then), was arrested by West Kachch-Bhuj police, Gujarat, for obtaining a fake passport.

A case was booked against him under relevant sections of the Indian Passport Rule of Foreigners Act. In his confession, he revealed that earlier, he had also resided in Barkas area of Chandrayangutta in Hyderabad as a fake medical practitioner. Following his confession, a case was booked here by the Chandrayangutta police as well for cheating and other offences.

The case was subsequently transferred to Special Investigation Team (SIT) for further probe. The SIT brought him from Gujarat on a Prisoner’s Transit Warrant and produced him before the court, which remanded him in judicial custody.

A charge sheet was filed in 2014 and after trial, the court found Nazeer guilty and sentenced him to simple imprisonment of five years. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000, in default of which he will have to undergo imprisonment for six months, which will run concurrently.
