No intention of denying Rythu Bandhu: KTR

Rajanna Sircilla: IT and Municipal Administration Minister on Tuesday made it clear that the State government has no intention of denying Rythu Bandhu assistance to farmers as alleged by opposition parties.

“Opposition parties are spreading wrong propaganda stating that government was trying to deny Rythu Bandhu to farmers who do not follow regulated farming introduced by the government. There is no no truth in the opposition allegations,” he said. The regulated farming system was introduced only to ensure that farmers reap in benefits and higher profits by cultivating market-driven crops, the Minister said, and asked the people if this was a wrong move.

Addressing a gathering after inaugurating a modern Rythu Bazar in Sircilla town, he assured that farmers who did not get Rythu Bandhu assistance last season due to various reasons would get it this Vaanakalam season.

Pointing out that a total of 9,614 additional farmers would get benefit under Rythu Bandhu in a small district like Rajanna-Sircilla, Rama Rao said 1.3 lakh farmers were provided Rs 121 crore Rythu Bandhu in 2019. In 2020, the number of farmers went up to 1.12 lakh.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who always thinks about the welfare of farmers and agriculture sector, would not do injustice to farmers, he said.

Inspired by Rythu Bandhu, the Central government also launched a similar scheme in the name of Prime Minister Kisan Yojana. About 16 to 17 crore farmers were getting the benefits across the country.

Thought the financial health of the State was in bad shape, Rs 5,200 crore Rythu Bandhu amount has already been deposited in the bank accounts of 52 lakh farmers, he said.

On the other hand, loans of 5.60 lakh farmers having below Rs 25,000 amount were also waived by allocating Rs 1,200 crore. Earlier, Rs 17,000 farm loans were waived.

It was not that much easy to continue all these schemes besides taking steps to protect the interests of people at the present corona epidemic conditions.

So, it was not proper on the part of opposition parties to criticise the government programmes without knowing the facts while senior politicians appreciating state government steps.

Senior congress leader and party’s national spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi hailed the Chief Minister for appointing the wife of Colonel Santosh Babu as a Group-I officer.

Talking about irrigation projects, Minister said it used to take decades together to construct irrigation projects. However, Kaleshwaram multi level lift irrigation project was completed within three years period by facing hurdles of court cases and others. It shows the commitment of Chandrasekhar Rao.

Godavari water has been lifted to 618 meter height (above the sea level) Kondapochamma reservoir from 82 meter height at Medigadda. As a result, tanks and other water bodies, which have not been filled during the last 50 years, were overflowing in the hot summer.

Second green revolution is going to be materialized in Telangana with the supply of water to 1.25 crore acres by utilising Krishna and Godavari water properly.

Informing that Telangana was already in top position in poultry and meat production, he said the strength of fish is going to be enhanced with the completion of Mid Manair, Ranganayakasagar, Kondapochamma and Mallannasagr reservoirs.

Fishermen community would reach a position to export fish and prawns to other states as well as foreign countries. To provide more benefits to farmers, government was establishing special food processing zones across the state.
