Nizamabad: As part of Integrated Fisheries Development Scheme (IFDS), Telangana Fisheries Department would issue Rs 27.92 crore worth loans for Nizamabad district fishermen.
The department showcased two wheelers, four wheelers and heavy vehicles at an exhibition in Arsapally, so that fishermen could choose vehicles according to their requirement.
As part of IFDS scheme, Telangana government would issue loans to fishermen. This scheme helps fishermen in taking up pisciculture, procuring fish, storing fish safely, transporting fish to nearby markets, among others. Under this scheme nets, fish crates, two-wheelers, light and heavy vehicles, would be provided to fishermen.
Rajanarsaiaha, Assistant Director (AD), Nizamabad District Fisheries Department, said government had allocated Rs 35.43 crore budget for Nizamabad district under IFDS scheme and invited applications from fishermen. Though there are 38 types of scheme, in Nizamabad, fishermen can apply for 20 schemes, for which loans worth Rs 27.92 crore would be given.
Sai Baba, Chairman, District Fisheries Federation, said 8,258 fishermen registered for different types of loans, of those registered 904 applications were not eligible and 7,253 fishermen were eligible for the loans.
At the exhibition, selected fishermen enquired the cost of various vehicles and other details, so that they could choose vehicles according to their requirement.
