Hyderabad: A training camp for NCC girl cadets from Hyderabad and Secunderabad is under way at the Bison Polo Grounds here. The camp is being organised by the VIIth Girls Battalion National Cadet Corps and attended by 550 cadets.
The cadets are trained in weapon training i.e. -.22 rifle firing, physical fitness, drills, map reading, battle craft, personality development and leadership qualities. Camp Commandant Colonel Rajesh K Rao said the aim of the camp is to prepare the cadets for A, B and C certificate examinations. “Shortlisted cadets will be prepared for participation in the Republic Day 2020 celebrations,” he said.
Emphasis is on inculcating social service activities amongst the candidates. A massive tree plantation drive was taken up at the Bison Polo Grounds and the cadets were explained the importance of recycle and reuse of plastic. Social activist Aruna Kappagantula also delivered a lecture on the importance of recycling of plastic.
Shikha Goel, Additional Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad, visited the camp and interacted with the cadets. She advised them to have an aim in life and work towards achieving it.
