Nalgonda: The Superintendent of Police AV Ranganath, on Tuesday, said all Ganesh pandals in the district would be geo tagged for effective monitoring.
During a conference with police officials in the district, the Superintendent of Police said police officials deployed at pandals, should see that pandals were geo tagged and must collect details of organisers.
Stating that point book would be made available at all pandals, he asked duty officers, beat officers and beat constables to cover details of each day without fail.
Stating that it was mandatory to get permission of police for setting up of pandals, he made it clear that loud speaker systems should not be set up at the pandals and DJs cannot be used at pandals. Organisers should also get the permission from Electricity Department, he added.
He asked the people to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi peacefully by following suggestions of police and advised that clay idols should be used.
Nalgonda Ganesh Utsav Committee president Anji Reddy asked the people to use clay idols during Ganesh Chaturthi instead of idols made of plaster of paris. Reddy said use of clay idols would help in protecting environment as well as avoid water pollution. He said idols would be immersed in water bodies after completion of nine-day festivities.
Stating that big clay idols were also available in the market now, he underlined the need to switch over to clay idols. It was a welcoming trend that he has been receiving phone calls from pandal organisers from across the district enquiring about places where clay idols would available.
