Nalgonda: Superintendent of Police A V Ranganath on Friday warned of stringent action against those who indulge in black-marketing of medicines related to treatment of COVID-19.
In a press release here, he said that the police maintain zero tolerance towards those who take advantage of the situation and create hardships to the people. “It has come to my notice that some people are selling Remdesivir injection and COVID testing kits at high prices. It has also come to our notice that some persons are creating artificial shortages of medicines and testing kits,” he said, adding that the police will give special focus on this issue.
He made it clear that action would be taken against the hospital managements, if they charge heavy charges and also extend treatment for COVID-19 without permission.
He cautioned that action would also be taken against the diagnostic labs and scanning, if they are found collecting charges higher than the rates fixed by the government. Such hospitals and labs would be seized, he added.
He said that the people can complain to the police by calling 100 or sending messages to the mobile number 9440795600, in case they come across black markets of medicines or collecting of higher charges.
