MANUU staffer initiates legal action against Chancellor

Hyderabad: Prof. Ehtesham Ahmad Khan, Dean, School of Mass Communication and Journalism, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), said he had initiated legal action against varsity’s Chancellor Firoz Bakht Ahmed for ‘making defamatory comments and false allegations’ against him.

Khan said the Chancellor declared him ‘as a sexual predator’ without going into the veracity of the allegations made against him. He alleged that Ahmed had been writing to various government departments making false imputations against him to rake up old issues.

He alleged that the Chancellor made numerous defamatory remarks against him, which were published on social and print media.

The Internal Complaints Committee of the university disposed of two old cases, Prof. Ehtesham said and claimed that were no accusations against him.

“The Chancellor has written letters to the V-C, University Grants Commission, National Commission for Women, Minister for HRD, and the President against me. It is known to one and all in MANUU that I am innocent and all the allegations are false. As I have been victimised for no reason since more than one month, I have initiated legal action to vindicate my honour and respect in society and family,” he said.
