Hyderabad: A carpenter, who was a suspect in a few chain snatching, attention diversion and bike theft offences, was stabbed to death in broad daylight by two unidentified men on Road No.7, Banjara Hills here on Saturday.
Police, who suspect that the assailants too were offenders, said the victim was identified as Ratna Chary, 30, a resident of NBT Nagar, Road No. 12, Banjara Hills.
Chary, along with the two others, had reached a secluded roadside spot on Road No. 7 around 3 p.m. on motorbikes. They had stopped near a Mee Seva center and were talking.
“The casual conversation turned into a heated argument, and one of the assailants took a sharp weapon and stabbed him multiple times. He sustained injuries on his face, head and neck and died on the spot. The reason for the attack is yet to be known,” Banjara Hills ACP N.Murali said, adding that the assailants immediately fled the spot on their bike.
Locals alerted the police who reached the spot along with a CLUES Team and the dog squad. Officials have found that the entire episode was recorded on a CCTV camera nearby, with the footage now being examined.
“The crime was captured on a CCTV installed nearby. We have come to know that Chary was involved in an argument on Friday night too, possibly with the same persons. We are trying to trace the suspects,” a senior official said.
The body, meanwhile, was shifted to the Osmania General Hospital for autopsy.
