Sangareddy: A man was allegedly beaten to death by the staff and management of a roadside eatery on NH-65 at Malkapur near Sangareddy town on Wednesday for trying to flee without paying the bill.
MD Shakir (35), from Teripole village of Kondapur mandal, reached Prince Dhaba with two friends around 1 pm. They were carrying a liquor bottle, police said. The three ordered for some snacks while they drank the liquor.
The friends left and Shakir spent a couple of hours at the eatery alone. As he tried to escape without paying the bill, the hotel staff chased him down and attacked him. Shakir died on the spot as he suffered serious internal injuries.
A police team, led by Sangareddy DSP Srinvas, reached the spot and took the eatery owner, Ashok Chowan, into custody. The DSP also collected evidence from witnesses and the two friends.
Meanwhile, Shakir’s family demanded action against the accused. The body was shifted to Government Hospital, Sangareddy, for a post-mortem examination.
