Nalgonda: International Yoga Day was celebrated by practicing yoga asanas by a large number of people and students across the district on Wednesday.
Bharath Swabhiman Trust, Panthanjali Yoga Samithi and Ayush department jointly organised third International Yoga Day celebrations in NG College Ground at Nalgonda.
Yoga master Sri Yogacharya Karunakar taught several asanas including Soku Bandasan, Ustava Pada aasan, Pavana Mukthasan, Padmasan, Kapalavati aasan and Shithaprayam aasan to the people.
Students of different schools, members of Indian Medical Association and Red Cross Society, and general public participated in the celebrations in a large number.
Indian Medical Association Neelagiri unit president Vasantha Kumari said practicing yoga regularly would help people to get rid of diseases and lead a healthy life.
Joint Collector C Narayana Reddy exhorted the people to make yoga a part of their lives which would help in obtaining sound mental and physical health. It will also helps in easing stress caused due to busy lives. Red Cross Society Chairman Goli Amarender Reddy, Nalgonda RDO Venkata Chary, and others were present.
In Suryapet, the Yoga Day was celebrated in Junior College ground near old bus stand in a similar manner.
The Minister for Power G Jagadish Reddy, District Collector K Surendra Mohan and other officials attended the programme. Yoga Day celebrations were also conducted at several mandal headquarters in the district.
