Kohli most consistent after Sangakkara, feels Mathews

Hyderabad: Former Sri Lankan captain Angelo Mathews feels that Indian captain Virat Kohli is one of the most consistent cricketers in modern day cricket. The Indian has been hailed as the best across all formats by many and destined for greatness.

The debate of the best between Kohli, Australia’s Steve Smith, England’s Joe Root and New Zealand’s Kane Williamson has been going on for a while but the Lankan voted Kohli as the best.

“I would go with Virat. He is one of the most consistent guys after Kumar Sangakkara,” he said during a video chat titled ‘Cricket Unplugged with Anis Sajan.’ When asked about who is best among Lasith Malinga and Jasprit Bumrah, who play for Mumbai Indians in IPL together, Mathews went with his compatriot. “I will pick Malinga for his experience but Bumrah is one of the best death bowlers going around these days,” he said.
