Khammam: The district administration has been gearing up for ensuing municipal elections. The District Collector RV Karnan has held a meeting with municipal commissioners of Wyra, Sathupalli and Madhira Municipalities in Khammam on Tuesday. He directed the municipal commissioners to make arrangements required for conducting elections.
He told the commissioners to prepare municipal ward-wise voters list based on the Assembly voters list published on December 16, 2019. Similarly all facilities have to be provided at ward-wise polling stations.
Returning officers and assistant returning officers, presiding officers and assistant presiding officers and other polling staff have to be appointed at the earliest. Training classes have to be conducted for those appointed for election duty.
Likewise flying squads, expenditure teams, sectorial officers and micro-observers have also to be appointed, the Collector said adding that sufficient numbers of vehicles have to be made ready towards transportation needs. Care has to be taken to see that reception, distribution and counting centres located at one place. Sensitive and problematic polling stations have to be identified and measures for proper security arrangements at such polling stations have to be made, Collector Karnan has told the commissioners.
Steps for webcasting at problematic polling stations and for installing CCTV cameras have to be taken. All arrangements have to be made in accordance with the municipal elections schedule, he added.
