Hyderabad: KFW, a Germany based agency has evinced interest in extending Rs.1,000 crore loan to Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited for taking up urban rejuvenation works, construction of skywalks and other facilities.
The agency primarily focuses on projects which use and promote green and clean technology. “Since HMRL has already developed public space at Miyapur and other facilities at Metro stations, the agency was impressed with the work and offered to extend loans,” HMRL Managing Director NVS Reddy told presspersons here on Friday.
A series of skywalks have been planned from Metro Rail stations to adjoining facilities such as education institutions, commercial spaces and cricket stadium to provide obstruction free movement of commuters. “It is still in initial stages and issues related to them are to be finalized,” he said.
HMRL has spent about Rs.2 crore towards urban rejuvenation and other works at each station while L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited spent about Rs.60 crore for each station. Over Rs.250 crore was spent for Interchange station at Ameerpet station, Reddy added.
