Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Cyber Crimes Police on Saturday arrested a man from Karimnagar on charges of cheating a woman from Hyderabad after promising her a job in a reputed software firm.
The arrested person, Mohd Salman alias Sohail (35), from Padma Nagar in Karimnagar, cheated the victim to the tune of Rs 1 lakh. Sohail had promised the victim a job of software developer in a reputed software company and conned her into deposit money into different bank accounts and e-wallets on the pretext of registration fees, security deposit and interview fees, etc.
According to the Cyber Crimes Police, Sohail would collect mobile phone numbers of job aspirants from consultancies and contact them over phone. “He offers them software developer jobs and wins their confidence. He further collected money from them on various pretexts,” said an official, adding that he would collect money until the victims realise themselves that they were cheated.
