Journalist commits suicide in Hyderabad


Hyderabad: A sub-editor working for a vernacular daily reportedly ended his life by jumping into Hussain Sagar Lake. Vaddalapu Prabhakar (43) worked with a Telugu daily as sub-editor for last few years and was previously associated with other dailies.

He had left his house on Friday and did not return home. On Saturday night, his son Shilpi lodged a complaint with the Punjagutta police station saying that his father was missing and was not in contact with any relative or family members.

As the Punjagutta police were making efforts to trace him, the body was found in Hussain Sagar by Ramgopalpet police on Sunday afternoon. The police recovered an identity card and other documents based on which his identity was confirmed. The police shifted the body to Gandhi Hospital mortuary.

The family members of the victim told the police that Prabhakar was depressed over personal issues and might have ended his life over it. A case was registered by the police and investigation taken up.
