Hyderabad: The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) –Advanced will be conducted on May 19, 2019. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) – Roorkee, which will be conducting the test, has announced the entrance examination date. Like last year, the JEE Advanced will be conducted in computer based mode only. A notification and information brochure will be issued by the organizing institute soon.
Only the top 2.4 lakh students in the JEE Main will be eligible to sit for the JEE Advanced. The JEE Main will also be conducted in the computer based mode only by the National Testing Agency (NTA). It will be held twice between January 6 and 20, 2019 and April 6 and 20, 2019. The results for the first attempt will be declared by January 31 and for the second attempt, the results will be announced by April 30.
Earlier, the entrance examination was conducted only once in a year. The decision to conduct JEE-Main twice in a year will provide an opportunity to students to improve their scores in the test if they fail to score well in the first attempt without wasting one academic year. If any student who fails to appear for the examination in the first attempt, he or she need not wait for one year as they can appear for the second attempt.
This apart, the student’s best of the two examination scores will be considered for preparation of merit list/ranking. The NTA will be releasing a notification for the second attempt JEE Main in February 2019.
The JEE Main is conducted for admissions into undergraduate courses offered by the National Institutes of Technology, Indian Institutes of Information Technology and Centrally Funded Technical Institutes. The JEE Main scores are also used as qualifier for the JEE Advanced which is conducted for admissions into Indian Institutes of Technology.
