Nalgonda: Miryalaguda Rural Police and Central Crime Station (CCS) sleuths arrested four thieves of a gang and seized Rs 6 lakh worth gold and silver ornaments from their possession.
The arrested were Atchi Chinna Saida Rao (27), Uppu Venkata Guruvulu (27), Padarthi Suresh (25) and Atchi Kotamma(50), who belong to Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh. Another two gang members — Addangiri Balu and Uppu Gopi – are absconding.
On a tip-off, the sleuths of Miryalaguda Rural Police and CCS took vehicle check-up at Venkatardripalem on the outskirts of Miryalaguda town and arrested the four, who were travelling in Tavera. The leader of gang Atchi Chinna Saida Rao was earlier arrested in 29 thefts and sent to jail. After releasing from the jail in July 2017, he along with his gang members continued to commit thefts.
The gang used to recce in the colonies to identify locked houses. The gang would commit offences in both day and night time. In the recent time, the gang committed 12 offences in Nalgonda and Guntur district.
Producing the arrested before the media, Additional Superintendent of Police T Padmanabha Reddy informed that 17 tolas of gold ornaments and 30 tolas of silver ornaments were recovered. CCS Sub-Inspector P Veera Raghava Rao and Miryalaguda Rural Sub-Inspector K Srikanth were also present.
