Hyderabad: The city is all set to join the world in celebrating the third international Yoga Day on Wednesday. The ground zero of Yoga Day celebrations will be at Gachibowli stadium, where thousands of yoga enthusiasts and fitness buffs will take part and perform co-ordinated sets of drills from 7 am.
The Yoga Day event at Gachibowli Stadium, being organised by Ministry of Health and Family and Department of Ayush, will also feature fitness experts from Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Telangana State Special Police (TSSP).
Health Minister C Laxma Reddy on Tuesday said that the apart from performing each yoga exercise, the volunteers from the CRPF, TSSP and AYUSH would also explain the physiological and physical advantages of each yoga pose.
The celebrations at the stadium were expected to attract 5,000 fitness enthusiasts from various walks of life, health officials said.
“Yoga plays a vital role in the holistic health of human beings but unfortunately, not many realise this. Yoga Day is an important occasion to reiterate its importance in our daily lives and spread its importance among public,” said Health Minister, Dr C Laxma Reddy.
Apart from Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya, Deputy Chief Minister M Mahmood Ali, Health Minister C Laxma Reddy and others will participate in the event.
In addition to the government organised celebrations, private companies, health institutions, schools and colleges are organising Yoga Day celebrations on Wednesday.
Actor Nandamuri Balakrishna will take part in Yoga Day, being organised by Addlife, the alternative medicine wing of Indo-American Cancer Hospital and Research Institute from 6.30 am at KBR Park on Wednesday.
On the occasion, Indo-US Superspeciality Hospital is also organising Yoga session, in which hospital cardiologists will take part, at its premises between 3 pm and 4 pm.
