Hyderabad: Interstate gang held for burglaries

The three member gang of house burglars held by the North Zone police on Monday.

Hyderabad: CCTV footage helped the Mahankali police nab a three member interstate gang of burglars in the wee hours of Monday. The gang, caught during a vehicle check at Karbala Maidan, was allegedly involved in about 20 cases. Police have seized Rs.6.4 lakh from the gang.

The arrested suspects are Noor Mohammad, 22, a resident of Burhanuddinpur, Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh; Shaik Salman Khan, 22, and Heeralal Jha, 21, both residents of Uchad of Madhya Pradesh.

According to B. Sumathi, DCP, North Zone, the gang would take a room on rent in a targeted area, recce the place during the day and commit offences in night. They either broke open the closed shutters of shops or entered through the ventilators by scaling pipelines.

Noor Mohammed was involved in about 10 cases in his native place of Bijnor and had come to Hyderabad last November. He met the other two here. The trio were involved in cases registered at the Mahankali police station and other police stations in the city, police said, adding that the gang had stolen goods worth Rs.38 lakh, of which Rs 6.4 lakh was recovered.
