Hyderabad: Five held for major burglary; Rs.1.3 crore recovered


Hyderabad: A car driver along with four of his accomplices who were allegedly involved in a major burglary at Tolichowki last month were arrested by the Hyderabad police here on Monday. The police recovered Rs. 1.28 crore, a motorcycle and mobile phones from them.

The arrested persons were identified as Mohd Afsar (24), a driver, Mirza Ashwaq Baig (22), Rahman Baig (23) Mohd Ameer (20) and Syed Imran (23), all residents of MD Lines in Golconda police station limits.

City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said Afsar and Ashwaq worked previously with Asaduddin Ahmed, a realtor and were in the know-how of all the cash transactions of the businessman. On July 21, Ahmed went to his farmhouse at Shameerpet with his family.

Afsar and Ashwaq, along with the other two, broke into the house and stole Rs. 2.5 crore, which they hid in Rahman’s house.

The police, suspecting Afsar, took him into custody and during questioning, he admitted to the crime and gave information about his accomplices as well, leading to their arrests as well, the Commissioner said.
