Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) is taking up measures to ease traffic flow on the Paradise junction-Kandlakoya junction stretch by constructing elevated corridor at congested areas and widening the existing carriageway into a six-lane stretch.
The proposed plan covering 18 kms will facilitate passage towards Nizamabad from the city. HMDA has identified this stretch as radial road no 12 among the 33 radial roads to provide improved connectivity between Inner Ring Road and Outer Ring Road.
The project is aimed at reducing traffic, besides cutting down the travel time and fuel cost. More importantly, focus is on developing the elevated corridor to meet future transport expansion requirements, including utility of the piers for elevated Metro, if required.
As part of the project, HMDA proposes to construct a 9-km elevated corridor and develop the current carriageway into a six-lane stretch covering 9 kms. The project cost is estimated to be around Rs 1500 crore and proposed to be taken up through Public Private Partnership mode on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (the “DBFOT”) basis.
Accordingly, HMDA is now roping in technical consultants, financial consultants and a legal advisor to conduct a feasibility study and assist the authority in executing the project.
While, the technical consultant will prepare the feasibility report, financial consultant will develop the revenue model and assist the Authority in the bidding process. The Legal Adviser will review the draft concession agreement based on the Model Concession Agreement, said a senior official from HMDA.
To this effect, HMDA is conducting a pre-proposal conference on Tuesday at Tarnaka. The prospective consultants will be briefed about the HMDA plans and provisions to be incorporated for future transportation requirements, etc.
